Cleveland Stories Dinner Parties

Wed., Feb. 20 and Wed., March 6

Cleveland Stories Dinner Party is a weekly series that pairs fine food with storytelling. The goal is to "bring to life some of the fun, interesting stories about Cleveland's past — from sports, to rock 'n' roll, to Millionaires' Row," as it's put in a press release. Admission is free, with no cover charge, although a prix fixe dinner, designed to complement the night's theme, is $20. Tonight, Craig H. Williams, a senior aerospace engineer in the Propulsion Division at NASA Glenn, will speak about the significance of the lunar landing that took place 50 years ago. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner is served at 6, and the storytelling starts at 7. (Jeff Niesel)

St. Paul & the Broken Bones/Valley Queen

Wed., Feb. 20, 8 p.m.

For their latest album, Young Sick Camellia, St. Paul and the Broken Bones decided to expand their sound even more and recruited R&B/hip-hop/dance producer Jack Splash to turn the knobs in the studio. As a result, woozy horns mix with sampled vocals on "Convex" and synthesizer flourishes and spirited horns drive "Apollo," a track that sounds like it could be on the soundtrack to a blaxploitation flick. For the funky throwback number “Gotitbad,” the band went back to the Sea of Noise sessions and dug up an unfinished song that it then completed. Expect these songs to translate well to the stage too. The band always delivers a killer live show. (Niesel) $27 ADV, $32 DOS

The Accidentals/Cousin Simple

Wed., Feb. 20, 8 p.m.

The Accidentals — violinist-guitarist-bassist Sav Buist, singer-cellist-guitarist Katie Larson and drummer Michael Dause — all met in a high school orchestra program in Michigan, where the members grew up, so it makes sense that when they had a chance to record with the Cleveland-based Contemporary Youth Orchestra, they would take advantage of it. Late last year, the band came into town to cut a version of their track “Requiem for a Lark” with CYO. They recorded at the studio on Tri-C’s Metro Campus. Part of the band’s live set for the past four years, the song, a track inspired by a classical piece that members played in high school orchestra before they were in the Accidentals, lent itself to orchestration. It's likely to show up in tonight's set. (Niesel) $13 ADV, $15 DOS
