Wed., Oct. 24

The only "true" horror film to ever win a Best Picture Oscar (Silence of the Lambs is a crime drama; fight me), The Exorcist will spider-walk its way into the theater as part of the Happy Hour Classics series, which means a spooky specialty cocktail hour precedes tonight's screening that takes place at 7 at the Capitol Theatre. Tickets are $10. (BJ Colangelo)

In Her Image: Photographs by Rania Matar

Sat., Oct. 27

Rania Matar began photographing her children when she became a parent, but the tragedy of the 9/11 attacks led her to focus on using the medium to tell others’ stories. A visit to a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon in 2002 provided additional motivation as Matar felt a strong connection to the women. A new exhibit that opens today at the Transformer Station, In Her Image: Photographs by Rania Matar features 43 large-scale color. A reception takes place at 6 p.m., and the exhibition will be on view until Jan. 13. (Niesel)
