Variety magazine declares that The Chambermaid, Lila Aviles' film about a maid who works in a Mexico City hotel, is "rare and special." The movie features various vignettes which help to tell the story a woman who shuffles through waste bins to see how the other half lives. It screens at 8:40 tonight and at 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. Tickets cost $10, $7 for Cinematheque members and students. (Niesel) 216-421-7450

Zen for Nothing

With this documentary movie, director Werner Penzel captures what life is like during on year in a Japanese Zen monastery. The film centers on a Swiss woman who spends three seasons (fall, winter, spring) as a novice at the place. It screens today at 1:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Museum of Art, where it screens again at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Tickets cost $10, or $7 for CMA members. (Niesel) 216-421-7350
