The Sower

Set in the French Alps in the 1850s, The Sower centers on a group of women who live in a remote village. After they get caught in the crossfire of President Louis-Napoléon's 1851 coup d'état, they find themselves living in a town that possesses no men. Of course, when a man does arrive in the village, the women battle for his attention. The film screens at 1:30 p.m. today and at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Tickets cost $10, or $7 for museum members. (Niesel)

Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf

Thomas Piper directs Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf, a documentary film about the landscape designer who designed the gardens along New York's High Line and the Lurie Garden in Chicago's Millennium Park. The film shows at 6:30 tonight at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. Tickets cost $10, or $7 for Cinematheque members and students. (Niesel)

MetroHealth System will present the premiere of the Shaker Arts Council’s documentary film, Conversations in Courage: The Visit. The film, directed by Marquette Williams, depicts the events surrounding Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s 1965 visit to Shaker Heights and includes interviews with many of those involved The afternoon begins at 2:00 pm with a Director’s Reception attended by veteran Civil Rights activists including Edwina Moss, the Reverends Joan Campbell and Albert Pennybacker. The film begins at 3:00 pm followed by a panel conversation moderated by Dee Perry and an audience Q & A . Tickets for the pre-screening reception are $35 and include a ticket to the screening. General admission tickets are $5 for students and seniors and $10 for adults.
