Meet the Author- Cafe Abyss: John O'Brien's Fiction, A Reflection

Editors and contributors of Cafe Abyss will discuss the fiction of John O’Brien, Lakewood native and author of four novels including Leaving Las Vegas. Editors Dave Megenhardt and Rob Jackson, as well as O’Brien’s sister, Erin O’Brien, will discuss John’s life and legacy. Contributors Sara Dobie Bauer, Patrick Snee, Matt Marshall and Tanya Pilumeli, will speak about discovering O’Brien’s work and share their analyses of it. Poetry Plus at Art on Madison will triple your pleasure in November with readings by two acclaimed featured poets - Steve Abbott (Columbus, OH) and Leonard Kress (Toledo, OH) - plus an open mic emceed by Ohio Beat Poet Laureate John Burroughs. Steve Abbott founded the Poetry Forum and his recent books include A Green Line Between Green Fields, The Incoherent Pull of Want and a collection of ekphrastic poems, A Language the Image Speaks. Leonard Kress teaches at Owens Community College and his recent collections include Craniotomy, The Orpheus Complex, and Walk Like Bo Diddley. 440-315-0426

It is these relics of the city’s past that Jeffrey Stroup strives to capture and preserve through the images in this book.
