Author and Largely Literary co-founder Mark Dawidziak presents a program based on his upcoming book "The Shawshank Redemption Revealed," which will be published in September, the 25th anniversary of director Frank Darabont's film adaptation of Stephen King's novella. Filmed in Ohio and starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, "The Shawshank Redemption" has risen in popularity since its release in 1994, reaching No. 1 on IMDB's list of most-loved movies. Lake Effect Poetry and The Poet's Haven present the First Friday Poetry Spectacular, now monthly at Karma Cafe in Canton. Each month includes a featured poet (sometimes with a Poet's Haven book release), an open-mic, and a poetry slam. The slam is sanctioned by Lake Effect Poetry, and during certain months it is also a qualifier for north-east Ohio's team and individual spots at national slam events.
