Cupid's Undie Run

You gotta be either crazy or really tough to participate in today's Cupid's Undie Run in your skivvies. It's bound to be freezing cold, so the faster you can complete the 1-mile-ish run, the better off you'll be. The event serves as a charity event too. The party gets going at noon at the South Side in Tremont. Runners step off at 2:30 p.m. and the party continues until 4. Registration is $50. Cheech and Chong

Over the course of a career that stretches back to the '70s, the comedy duo Cheech & Chong recorded six gold albums, including the 1973 Grammy winner Los Cochinos, and starred in several films. Though the duo split up in the 1980s, they reunited in the 2000s for their Light Up America tour. The loveable stoners will return to Northeast Ohio to perform tonight at 8 at Hard Rock Live. A few years ago, the locally based Elevation Group, producers of the LaureLive music festival at Laurel School's Butler Campus, conceived and created the Cathedral Concert series that takes place at Trinity Cathedral. Previous Cathedral Concerts have included acts such as Red Wanting Blue, Glen Hansard, the Blind Boys of Alabama and Joe Jackson. The Elevation Group relaunches the series tonight with a performance by Ladysmith Black Mambazo, one of the most successful singing groups from South Africa. The group has worked with artists such as Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton and many others. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $32.50.; find them at Ticketweb.com. (Niesel)

Beethoven’s Pastoral

Thu., Feb. 21

Tonight's Cleveland Orchestra concert that takes place at 7:30 at Severance Hall features two symphonies inspired by the countryside and nature. Beethoven’s “Pastoral,” features rolling thunder, a lively country dance and the sound of a shepherd’s pipes. Scotland's rugged beauty inspired Mendelssohn’s “Scottish,” a piece characterized by with moody, atmospheric melodies. Herbert Blomsted conducts, and Timothy Cutler, a Cleveland Institute of Music professor of music theory, gives the pre-concert talk that begins an hour before the concert.
