Indians vs. Chicago White Sox

Tue., Sept. 18 and Wed., Sept. 19

While the Chicago White Sox will end this season with a losing record, the young team has steadily improved throughout the season. In August, the squad won more games than it lost as its rookies have started to blossom. Expect them to give the Tribe a tough time when the two teams match up tonight at 7:10 p.m. at Progressive Field. Tickets start at $15. (Niesel)

International Talk Like a Pirate Day

Wed., Sept. 19

Way back in 1995, John Bauer and Mark Summers proclaimed Sept. 19 should forever be known as a day when we should all talk like pirates. The Greater Cleveland Aquarium has embraced the resulting International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD) and makes it a point to celebrate the date each year. Today, if you come dressed as a pirate or read a randomly selected phrase while doing your best pirate impression, you'll receive $5 off of your admission that day. The first 75 guests who attempt to utter an ITLAPD phrase at the ticket counter will receive an eyepatch. In addition to the regularly scheduled Sharks & Scuba talks and a stingray feed, other International Talk Like A Pirate Day activities include the opportunity to craft your own pirate accessories, appearances by friendly land shark Finn and a chance to win prizes or a year-long family pass by embarking on a scavenger hunt and searching for "hidden treasure" in the exhibits. The museum is open from 10 a.m .to 5 p.m. Check the website for ticket prices. (Niesel)

Vince Morris

Wed., Sept. 19

Comedian Vince Morris has a demeanor that seems tame and gentle, but his quips have you still laughing later as you realize their deeper meanings. This guy talks about all sorts of things including Southern living, funny dialects and the way people relate to each other through language. Lots of this stuff isn’t your typical comedy, but the guy is downright funny. He appears at Hilarities at 8 tonight and tomorrow night, and tickets range from $13 to $18. (Liz Trenholme)

Also, there will be seasonal dinner specials from the Garden Cafe, fire pits, lawn games and flashlight garden tours. (Niesel)

Hoppin' Frog Hoppy Hour

Starts Sept. 26. Wednesdays

The Hoppin' Frog tasting room in Akron is in a nondescript strip of storage facilities and warehouses. But step inside and you'll find a cozy space with a huge array of the brewery's wonderful libations. The place features "hoppy hour" every weekday from 3 to 7 p.m. Tonight, the brewers visit the tasting room from 5 to 7 p.m. While they don't fill growlers, you can drink bottles on site or take 'em to go. The place also offers a "Hoppin' Frog Rare & Vintage" list as well as a guest bottle list. And you can order from a limited food menu too. (Niesel)
