Petal/Camp Cope

Fri., June 22, 7 p.m.

Petal is the kind of artist you stumble upon on Spotify and immediately add to all your latest playlists. The Pennsylvania native possesses the old-school elegance of Lily Allen or Lana Del Rey’s vocals but also the too-cool-for-you rock star charm of Speedy Ortiz’s lead singer, Sadie Dupuis. Petal’s new album, “Magic Gone,” has many highlights. “Stardust,” is a lyrical masterpiece that boasts her classically trained vocals. While her perfectly controlled voice has a real power to it, her words show she’s just as unsure as the rest of us. “Now we’re living in shitty apartments with mismatched dishes, unlike our parents/Maybe we’d make good parents?/Maybe not, I can’t say/I can’t say I didn’t love you,” she sings. “Tightrope” is a light-weight tune with more focus on the catchy instrumentals. Petal rounds out the trifecta with “Better Than You” and ditches her indie roots for a straight up rock ’n’ roll vibe. (Halle Weber) $13 ADV, $15 DOS

Against Me/Murder by Death/The Sidekicks

Fri., June 22, 7 p.m.

Plenty of punk bands have succeeded purely because they bring the noise. Against Me! does that and the some. Much like the Ramones and the Clash, the band has left its mark because of the great songs it writes. Four years ago at House of Blues, the group kicked off the Alternative Press Music Awards with an invigorating show that really got the mosh pit going. We still consider the band's driving tune “I Was a Teenage Anarchist” to be one of the great punk anthems of all time. Tonight's show supports its latest studio album, 2106's highly personal Shape Shift With Me. Singer Laura Jane Grace wrote the songs on the album, a loose concept album about traveling the world, from what she calls a “trans perspective.” Expect tonight's concert to be an inspiring affair.
