A Bowie Celebration: The David Bowie Alumni Tour

Last year, keyboardist Mike Garson and other musicians who played with the late, great David Bowie toured behind a show dubbed a Bowie Celebration: The David Bowie Alumni Tour. In addition to Garson, the band includes Earl Slick, Charlie Sexton, Carmine Rojas, Mark Plati, Bernard Fowler and Corey Glover. Garson performed with David at his first and last concerts in the United States as well as 1,000 concerts together around the globe in between. Soprano Angela Mortellaro will be performing Mozart’s solo motet, Exsultate, Jubilate, K. 165. The Wagner Tuba is very seldom heard. Tren Cheshier will be performing Stephen Caudel’s Edel Rhapsody for Wagner tuba. Parade is a ballet with music by Erik Satie and the theme being a publicity parade which three groups of circus artists try to attract an audience to performance. These swing dances are the biggest and best dances in the area. Everyone feels welcome and everyone has a blast. You don't need to know how to dance or bring a dance partner. Some people come just to enjoy the great live music. We always have live music from 9-12 and a pre-dance jitterbug lesson from 8-9. Dates and locations are subject to change but there is always a swing dance on the last Saturday of the month and they are usually at the Slovenian National Home.
