Father John Misty/King Tuff

Sat., Sept. 22, 7 p.m.

Justin Tillman (aka Father John Misty) wants people to put down their damn cellphones and live in the moment already — especially at his concerts, where he's been known to call people out for constantly filming and photographing. Much of what the singer-songwriter does (on stage or otherwise) comes off as sarcastic, but with the cellphone thing he has strong convictions. Since 2012, the former Fleet Foxes drummer has moved listeners in often uncomfortable and poetically beautiful prose to fully examine their lives. His sparse new record, God's Favorite Customer, which he wrote over a month's time while hiding out at a hotel, continues his progression as an artist unafraid to make people think. (Laura Morrison) $35-$75

Rock of Faith

Sat., Sept. 22, 7-9 p.m.
phone 216-932-7480
office@firstbaptistcleveland.org

It is a musical journey of the soul. It began as the story of personal recovery from addiction and transformation into a relationship with God. Today it speaks to the journey of many addicts and alcoholics. The reality of this disease is that it destroys the heart and soul of a person. In the beginning, drugs become the love of your life and everything seems wonderful until it isn’t. After years of using drugs and alcohol, the disease of addiction takes you into the black of hopelessness and despair to a place that you don’t think you can escape. $10-$20

Diamond Dogs (David Bowie Tribute)

Ziggy Stardust, Alladinsane, Major Tom, The Thin White Duke, The Man Who Fell To Earth, The Earthling….all masks of an actor - The Cracked Actor, David Bowie. The influence David Bowie has had over rock music, and perhaps our culture itself, is immeasurable. David’s ability to reinvent himself while challenging the world of music and art, pushing the boundaries as it were, guarantee him a permanent place in the history of entertainment. It is with this belief that Diamond Dogs – The Sound & Vision of David Bowie exists. $10

The Speedbumps - 10th Anniversary Concert

Sat., Sept. 22, 8 p.m.

A local indie folk band, the Speedbumps first came together in 2007. Singer-guitarist Erik Urycki had dropped out of Kent after freshman year and spent a summer writing songs and playing guitar. That's when he decided to put the group together. Shortly after forming, the band would perform with artists such as Andrew Bird, G. Love and OKGO. This fall marks the 10th anniversary of the band’s first release. The group’s performance tonight at the Kent Stage will serve as a 10-year anniversary party. It’ll also mark the group's first gig in Kent in two years, and some former members will sit in with the band. (Niesel) $17 ADV, $20 DOS
