Pusha T/Phony PPL/Bernard Jabs

Mon., Nov. 19, 8 p.m.

Rapper Pusha T began his career alongside his brother, No Malice, in the group, Clipse. The duo released three albums between 2002 and 2009 before ultimately disbanding but not before developing a cult-like following of fans who couldn't get enough of their detailed travails of street life in their native Virginia and beyond. Pusha pushed forward as a solo artist, working the circuit and eventually landing with Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music imprint. He now serves as the label's president. Pusha's breakout performance came on West's "Runaway" from 2010's My Beautiful Dark Fantasy, and in 2013, Pusha's debut album, My Name is My Name, was released to critical acclaim. Two years later, King Push - Darkest Before Dawn arrived and earlier this year, Pusha's Daytona arrived and gave him his highest charting album to date. Rife with controversy, from the cover itself (a photo of Whitney Houston's drug infested bathroom) to verbal jabs at Drake, Lil Wayne and Birdman, the album is an ode to the fast life. The Sea & Cake/Fits of Hail

Tue., Nov. 20, 8:30 p.m.

After a six-year break from the studio, The Sea and Cake dropped Any Day earlier this year. It's a surprisingly pitch-perfect return to form and an excellent reason to check out an underrated band for a rare show in Cleveland. Comprising mid-'90s post-rock talents Sam Prekop, Archer Prewitt and John McEntire, the Sea and Cake deliver an insouciant blend of jazz and power pop. It's laid-back in the most honest sense of the term, and it's perfect for a mid-November show. The leaves are falling, the mood is often strange and unsettling in America; music like the new album's title track or the head-bobbin' “Occurs” is one of the few remaining balms, and Prekop's airy vocals are a perfect vehicle for the groovy calmness you're seeking. Pair that with master drummer McEntire on the skins, and you're in for a real treat with this one, Cleveland. (Eric Sandy) $13 ADV, $15 DOS
