Time again for the Third Friday Art Walk at the cavernous 78th Street Studios. More than 50 studios and galleries will participate in this popular indoor art walk; be sure to check out spots like the Derek Hess Gallery, Tregoning & Company and Hilary Gent Studio for a chance to shop and interact with artists. These swing dances are the biggest and best dances in the area. Everyone feels welcome and everyone has a blast. You don't need to know how to dance or bring a dance partner. Some people come just to enjoy the great live music. We always have live music from 9-12 and a pre-dance jitterbug lesson from 8-9. Dates and locations are subject to change but there is always a swing dance on the last Saturday of the month and they are usually at the Slovenian National Home. Story Club is a show for true stories that's held in Chicago, Boston, Minnepolis, Belgrade, and now Cleveland! Each show has featured performers and three open mic slots. Open mic participants sign up at 7PM. If more than three people sign up then we draw names from a hat. Open micers are given 8 minutes (1300) words in which to tell a true story. Lake Effect Poetry and The Poet's Haven present the First Friday Poetry Spectacular, now monthly at Karma Cafe in Canton. Each month includes a featured poet (sometimes with a Poet's Haven book release), an open-mic, and a poetry slam. The slam is sanctioned by Lake Effect Poetry, and during certain months it is also a qualifier for north-east Ohio's team and individual spots at national slam events.
