The author of North of Order, Book of Lake, and Orient (CSU Poetry Center Press), he currently lives in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, and teaches at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Brian Blanchfield is the author of three books of poetry and prose, most recently Proxies: Essays Near Knowing and A Several World. He teaches at the University of Idaho and in the Bennington College Writing Seminars, and lives in Moscow, Idaho. Free

Our friends at Anytime Fitness Concord are hosting the 5th Annual Anytime Fitness Miles for Mutts 5K to benefit the animals here at Lake Humane Society. Miles for Mutts will take place on Saturday, September 24th and the course will both start and end at Anytime Fitness. Runners and walkers are welcome! Day-of registration will be available at 7:00 am, and the race wil start at 8:00 am. $20-$25 per person

SAVE THE DATE for the Green Ribbon Coalition's Second Annual Bike Tour, Pedal the Green Ribbon. The route starts at Edgewater Beach and follows the new Shoreway bike trail to the Flats accessing the Centennial and Scranton Road Trails, and back to Edgewater via Hingetown and Gordon Square. There will be a rest stop at Merwin's Wharf with presentations on Irishtown Bend, Red Line Greenway, and the Coalition's proposed Harbor Land Bridge. Registration will be held at the Edgewater Park Pavilion from 9:30 - 10:00 AM. Bike Tour starts at 10:00 AM. Tickets include light breakfast. $15.00
