Burning River Fest

Fri., Aug. 17

The Burning River Fest pokes fun at one of Cleveland's not-so-proud moments while conveying the importance of preserving Northeast Ohio's freshwater sources. Created by the aptly named Burning River Foundation, the fest takes place at the historic Coast Guard Station on Whiskey Island. The hard rocking retro act Low Cut Connie headlines and local acts such as the Speedbumps and By LIght We Loom will play as well. Doors open at 6 tonight and tomorrow night. Tickets are $15. Indians vs. Baltimore Orioles

Fri., Aug. 17

The Baltimore Orioles threw in the towel earlier this year when they traded star player Manny Machado to the Los Angeles Dodgers. They have one of the worst records in all of baseball and have clearly decided it's time to rebuild and start thinking about next year. As a result, the Indians should be able to have their way with them when the two teams face off tonight at 7:10 at Progressive Field. The three-game series concludes on Sunday when there will be a special Jim Thome Hall of Fame bobblehead giveaway. Tickets start at $15. (Niesel)

Jim Norton

Fri., Aug. 17

Over the past decade or so, comedian Jim Norton has built quite a resume. He's had acting gigs (Lucky Louie, Spider-Man), written a best-selling book (Happy Endings: The Tales of a Meaty-Breasted Zilch) and become a radio personality (Opie and Anthony’s XM satellite show). And he continues to work the standup circuit. His jokes tend to center on topics of a sexual nature and include countless references to the male anatomy. He performs at 7 and 10 tonight and tomorrow night at Pickwick and Frolic. Tickets are $88. (Niesel)

Cleveland Browns vs. Buffalo Bills

Fri., Aug. 17

After two miserable seasons, the Cleveland Browns return to action at FirstEnergy Stadium tonight to face the Buffalo Bills in a preseason game. The Browns have retooled their roster. Former Bills' quarterback Tyrod Taylor will be the starting quarterback (top draft pick Baker Mayfield will be waiting in the wings), and young players such as Myles Garrett should start to shine. We hope that translates to wins. Tonight's game begins at 7:30. At press time, resale tickets were going for as low as $5. (Niesel)

Green River - The #1 Nationally Touring Creedence Clearwater Revival/John Fogerty Tribute Show is the brainchild of native New Yorker Rick Horvath. Noodles, as he is affectionately known, was born to perform this music. He started singing CCR songs in his very first band when he was only 13 years old. CCR was an American rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Their musical style encompassed the roots rock and swamp rock genres. Creedence Clearwater Revival's music is still a staple of American radio airplay and the band has sold 30 million albums. free
