The club opened its first nine holes in the spring of 1999 and its last nine holes later that fall. It is semiprivate, which means it costs a bit more than most public courses.

It's a good course for the beginning golfer, because the walking is easy and it adds to the experience. It's not complicated, but it still requires skill to get the ball on the green.

The first land purchased for Cleveland Metroparks can be seen from the Stinchcomb-Groth Memorial. The character of the reservation is strongly influenced by the Rocky River. Massive shale cliffs rise above the willows, sycamores, and cottonwoods, and many trails wind through the valley's deep floodplain forests, meadows, and wildflowers.

It's a deceptively short course, because there are many chances for disaster along the way.
