[image-1]Amazon has imagined a world where people don't have to be physically present to open their own front door. Be it for a pet sitter, personal chef or, of course, your Amazon package delivery person, the Seattle-based company is now offering a new technology that allows its Prime members to allow approved people inside locked homes. And Cleveland is one of 37 cities to be a part of the Amazon Key roll out.
Here's how it works: First, an electronic key pad is installed in your door along with a camera. After downloading the Amazon Key app, you'll be notified when someone wants access to the door, and when they are leaving. You can watch the whole process live, straight from your phone.
The company, currently in the midst of selecting a city for its second headquarters city, is touting this as a safety and anti-theft innovation, but some critics are still weary of letting strangers in the home.
