James Alex Fields, the Ohio man who drove his Dodge Challenger into a crowd at the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville this summer, has been indicted on 10 counts, including first-degree murder.
Fields drove from Ohio to the Virginia to hear a speaker at the weekend rally. His actions resulted in the death of 32-year-old Heather Heyer and the injuries of many others. He was described by a former high school teacher as having been interested in Nazism.
Fields was initially charged with second-degree murder, but that charge was upgraded last week in Charlottesville district court.
The Associated Press reports that in addition to Fields, the men who attacked another man in a parking garage in Charlottesville (an incident widely publicized by blogger Shaun King) were also indicted Monday.
