Radiant Vision

On his travels along the rim of the Mediterranean Sea, Italian photographer Mimmo Jodice sought nothing less than radiance--in the landscapes, the Greek and Roman ruins of ancient towns, and the turbulent waters. Sometimes that radiance was manipulated with darkroom techniques (a blurred "starburst" achieved by moving the enlarger head during exposure); other times, he caught that certain slant of light with his camera. His objective: present the classical in the true sense of the word; not antiquated, but timeless. Jodice's work is on display through February 21 at the Cleveland Museum of Art, 11150 East Blvd., 216-421-7340.
