The Circle Jerks

With the Vacancies and Lightweight Holiday. Saturday, November 16, at the Agora.

Circle Jerks Fun Facts: 1) The band's singer rules -- but don't take our word for it. Henry Rollins often gets props as Black Flag's definitive frontman, but ask Hank, and he'll tell you which Flag singer set the standard, way back in 1978: Keith Morris, who would then go on to front the irreverent old-school punk greats the Circle Jerks.

2) They practically invented Unplugged. In 1984's punk-oriented cult classic Repo Man, the Circle Jerks appeared as a cheesy lounge act, performing an acoustic rendition of the recession anthem "When the Shit Hits the Fan." Take that, Bon Jovi.

3) It seems unlikely, but they wanna destroy you, not her. After covering such cornball anthems as "Put a Little Love in Your Heart" and a medley of '70s love songs, including the Carpenters' "Close to You," the Jerks teamed up with former teen diva Debbie Gibson in 1995 for a take on the Soft Boys' "I Wanna Destroy You." Guess that makes this reunion show one to die for.
