Here we go again. Rufio is yet another band born of the So-Cal pop-punk implosion. Wide-eyed, fast guitars and hard drums lace up to (could it be?) whiny, nasal vocals in songs about misery, hopelessness, and waiting for the next best thing. It would be moot to argue whether or not this is grating. The real question is whether this is any more grating than the other crap out there. And really, it's not. Songs from the band's latest album, MCMLXXXV, are genuinely memorable, even though they drag consistently weak vocals. But what the heck -- these four boys from Rancho Cucamonga certainly deserve an A for effort.
