"[The promoters] promised bands things and didn't come up with nearly enough ticket sales to cover that," says Beachland owner Mark Leddy. "And some of the bands were getting a little ugly about it. There was a good deal of confusion. We saw that [Dahl] was in a bad situation, so we gave him 95 percent of the gate receipts. A lot of out-of-town bands came in for this, and most of them were disappointed. And while that confusion was going on, someone saw where the mics were put away and helped themselves to all the microphones for the ballroom."
Leddy says the incident won't be the end of punk shows at the club, but adds that he plans to be more careful about which bands he books and which promoters he works with.
"It's not what I intended to happen," says Dahl. "Mark bent over backward to help me out, and I don't want to see the guy get hurt because of this. We made some mistakes this year, but hopefully they'll be fixed, and we'll be back next year."

"We'd love to have the stuff back," says Leddy. "And if it comes back, we're not going to ask questions. I'd be happy to have the stuff back and be done with it."

· Third Wish, which was named Regional Rock Band of the Year at the 1998 Scene Music Awards, will play a reunion show on Saturday, November 26, at the Phantasy Nite Club (11802 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood). The jam band, which broke up in 1998, played a show around this time last year.
