Sound Advice

Hunter, Sean and Cristi lay it out for you.

WMMS Mornings hosts Hunter, Sean, and Cristi (left to right) are the front line of Cleveland rock radio's most storied station.

What have you been listening to lately?

Sean: I downloaded some Johnny Cash after watching Walk the Line.

Cristi: The new Eagles of Death Metal, "Death by Sexy," is pretty brilliant. I'm also anxious to hear the new Head Automatica. This killer little female-fronted project called Morningwood -- I couldn't take their CD out of the player until I got that new EODM disc.

Hunter: I've been listening to a lot of older stuff. The classics, like Kiss' Alive 2, Led Zeppelin's How the West Was Won, and the Beatles' Let It Be . . . Naked. The Fray is probably the newest band I've been listening to lately.

What do you listen to that might surprise your fans?

Sean: I've always claimed Enya and Dwight Yoakam.

Cristi: I listen to a ridiculous amount of Motown. Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, and the like.

Hunter: I listen to a lot of hip-hop.

Wu Tang!

What's a band that only you like?

Sean: Kittie.

Cristi: I'm the only person I know besides Tyra Banks who loves Lil' Kim.

Hunter: There's this quirky band I found in college called Rise Robots Rise. They're like Black Box meets Frank Zappa. Superman in a Thong is also good.

Favorite Cleveland musicians?

Sean: Does Fatkid Dodgeball count? They're out of Columbus.

Cristi: Michael Stanley . . . just kidding. He sucks. I'm more into the metal scene. Disengage, Chimaira, and Audiblethread are all solid.

Hunter: Ray Fogg & the Swingin' Lesbian Frogs. The name says it all.

Has meeting/talking to a musician ever changed your opinion of his music?

Sean: Kirk Hammett from Metallica was an idiot. He also had food on his mouth when he was talking. I didn't tell him.

Cristi: Gene Simmons was such a pompous cock. I almost got in a fist-fight with him in Las Vegas.

Hunter: Reba McEntire is a flaming bitch.
