Although his last official release, E.A.R.'s Worn to a Shadow EP, is now two years old, Kember is perpetually creating what can only be described as hypno-minimalism. Collaborations with experimental glitterati like My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields and Delia Derbyshire (who penned the theme song for Dr. Who) have over the years helped shaped his ideas, which mainly revolve around simple drones where the less chords used, the better.
Pop-minded detractors may be hard-pressed to find something they like, but Kember's music is much deeper than meets the ear. Whether his current recordings lean more toward the emotionally fueled or the technically blueprinted, his constant aural mapping of the science of psychedelia is always welcome whenever he comes down to Earth.
