San Francisco-based comedian Bill Santiago had every intention of being a journalist. But he switched careers when he realized he was a joke as a reporter. Still, Santiago occasionally pens columns for the Los Angeles Times and Mother Jones, and much of his stand-up act revolves around politics and how it relates to his Puerto Rican heritage. Everyones speaking Spanish now, he quips. George Bush is speaking Spanish -- a little better than he speaks English. No surprise to hear Santiago say hes waiting for the day when a minority takes over the White House. Weve had 43 white male presidents in a row, he says. Thats a hell of a lucky streak.
