In Cleveland Public Theatres
Sleep Deprivation Chamber, a young man is beaten by police and charged with assaulting an officer. Its a true story penned by playwright Adrienne Kennedy and her son Adam, who just happens to be the plays battered protagonist. The Obie-winning work chronicles Adriennes sleepless nights and her sons journey through the maddeningly labyrinthine justice system.
The bigger picture, however, is an exploration of police brutality against an educated, middle-class black man. Panel discussions -- featuring local policemen, councilwomen, and judges -- follow each performance during the plays two-week run.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m. Starts: Jan. 11. Continues through Jan. 27
