Enter Los Angeles' Hrishikesh Hirway, who records dreamy bedroom electronica as the One AM Radio. With cutesy folk guitars that are arranged like teddy bears on a bedspread, Hirway sings regretful lyrics about lost loves. His recordings mine a 21st-century gray area between digital music and dippy singer-songwriter, so he's neither suburban nor urban. But he is friendly -- friendly enough, in fact, to have left his mark on a Pontiac commercial last year.
Hirway is touring in support of the Dangerbird-released This Too Will Pass, his third full-length album. The disc is not quite lush, because lush albums have swathes of darkness, like a well-aged whiskey. But it is sensitive. Your girlfriend will like you a lot if you take her to see the One AM Radio.
