Sweet Spot

The last time comedian Tommy Blaze played Cleveland, he was half of the He Said She Said Comedy Tour. The nationwide jaunt, which he created, featured two comics (one male, one female) dishing on the opposite sex. Much to Blaze’s surprise, people were celebrating Sweetest Day when he was in town. “From what I gather, American Greetings invented it,” he says. “It doesn’t really exist beyond Cleveland. It’s nowhere on the eastern seaboard -- I know that.”

He would know. Blaze is recognized as the dean of relationship comedy among stand-up fans. As such, the week leading up to Valentine’s Day is his busiest time. “It’s a no-win situation for men,” he says of February 14. “It’s designed for men to fail. It’s a test of character.”
