Chiodos and the Devil Wears Prada

With Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, and Once Nothing. 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, $15.50 (all ages). House of Blues, 308 Euclid Ave., 216-523-2583.

Most of that screamo-metalcore crapola sucks, except for these guys: Dayton's The Devil Wears Prada (pictured) does the dual-dueling-roaring-screaming-vocalists thing, but knows how to write a song too. And it knows how to bring something fresh to the table: The bruising "HTML Rulez d00d" makes you wonder why you don't hear more popular-song references to coding. Michigan's Chiodos is lighting up the internet and airwaves with "The Undertaker's Thirst for Revenge Is Unquenchable (the Final Battle)," a workout of big post-hardcore breakdowns, with soft piano interludes that lull you into dropping your defenses for gut-punch choruses.
