Hanging Chad

Local funnyman becomes a judicial punch line for fellow yuksters. Now he's paying the price in Flats fund-raiser.

Here's a twist on a judge doling out punishment for Chad Zumock's moment of bad judgment: Instead of throwing Kent comic Chad Zumock in the clink for a DUI, Hizzoner is making him host Chad's Community Service Show to benefit Big Brothers & Sisters of Portage County. To satisfy the judge's orders, the comedy vet is enlisting an all-star team of Northeast Ohio comics, including Ryan Dalton, Mike Polk, Bill Squire, and headliner Jeff Blanchard. And chances are sweet that Zumock will bear the brunt of the ribbing for his brush with the law. "Maybe if I had been in (Big Brothers) when I was a kid, I wouldn't be fulfilling a community-service requirement right now," says Zumock. "Don't drink and drive, or you'll have to do a shitty comedy show." Hit the laugh track at 8 tonight at the Improv, 2000 Sycamore Street on the West Bank of the Flats. Tickets are $6 in advance and $10 at the door. Call 330-296-6655 or visit www.bbsportage.org.
