Recorded and mixed locally by the Promise Hero's Bobby Vaughn at Rock and Roll City Studios, Blacklister's debut album, La Fin Du Monde, features snotty vocals and catchy pop-punk harmonies. Album opener "Locked Out" includes a meaty guitar riff and comes off as a cross between Green Day and Blink 182. Another highlight, the stuttering "Thug Mansion" features rousing call-and-response vocals and dynamic guitar work.
The local band that's led by Vaughn's brother Justin Vaughn recently played with like-minded acts such as the Alkaline Trio/Lawrence Arms project the Falcon, Digger, Worship This! and Lawskof.
The group, which also includes guitarist Steve Sherman, bassist Tommy O'Brien and drummer Joe Willis (formerly of Anti-Flag's A-F Records band All Dinosaurs), will celebrate the album's release with a Feb. 26 show at the Grog Shop.
New York-based Iron Chic will also perform. The show starts at 9 p.m., and tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
