We Got a Winner for the Music Video Challenge!

Last night, the newly formed Ohio Film Office announced the winner of its Music Video Challenge during a reception at House of Blues' Cambridge Room. Attended mostly by the contestants, the event acknowledged the Top 10 entries in the contest, which solicited music videos from directors and bands located across the state. All 10 nominated directors and bands attended.

A countdown began at 7 p.m. with guest presenters ripping open envelopes and presenting certificates to the winning entries. Finally, Film Office Director Christina Grozik enlisted House of Blues marketing coordinator Jane Rockwood to open the envelope for first place and announce that John Daugherty and the Columbus band Receiver had won for their video for “Visitor.”

Their prize pack included everything a struggling artist could want: 10 hours of recording time at Ante Up Audio, a day of photography with prints from Gregory Wilson Photo, a Hard Rock Café dinner for two, a Hyatt Regency weekend stay, a Marengo Luxury spa gift certificate, a KP half-day photo shoot, a House of Blues Gospel brunch for two, a one-year Rock Hall membership and a Pickwick and Frolic gift certificate. Oh, and perhaps, most significantly: those hard-to-come-by tickets to the Rock Hall Inductions.

“We have so much talent throughout Ohio,” said Grozik during the proceedings. You can check out the winning video above. —Jeff Niesel
