Amid the minor pickups and cuts that have marked the Cavs' preseason, a notable acquisition just went down under the radar: Radio voice Joe Tait has been re-signed for two more seasons.
Sure, it's the play-by-play equivalent of Sinatra being invited back to the Sands; Tait would be asked to call Cavs games from the grave if Dan Gilbert could get the paperwork signed. But for Cavs fans, the tandem of best announcer and best team in franchise history is a pairing worth celebrating.
"When we purchased the Cleveland Cavaliers, we were excited to learn that 'batteries were included,'" Gilbert said in a statement. "It is quite obvious what, or, rather,
who those batteries are in Cleveland, Ohio. They are Joe Tait."
