He may be short, but Earl Boykins is not on the Cavs' short list, according to some guy.
When teams are
looking at Penny Hardaway and Reggie Miller for help, you know this year’s crop of unsigned NBA talent sucks. But, as our
somewhat-failed parody a few days back proved, people are praying for the Cavs to bust a move before the 2007 season tip-off.
What moves can be made? No one’s sure. But that’s not going to stop people from speculating.
The Sporting News' Sean Deveney thinks
the answer might be Troy Hudson, the 31-year-old offensive guard and former Kevin Garnett sidekick. He also thinks Earl Boykins would be a good fit, although, counter to previous reports, he claims the Cavs have no interest in the pint-sized C-town native.
There also are rumblings the Cavs might sign someone out of the AARP league, which is like the AAU, but for people with bladder-control problems. Rumor has it Charles Oakley, the ancient-but-still-bad-ass power forward, is looking at a comeback, and the Cavs are on his short list. Cleveland, some speculate, could benefit from Oak’s post-season experience, and his willingness to throw elbows on behalf of a young superstar, as he once did so lovingly for Michael Jordan.
But Oakley has
a word of caution for those wanting to see his dreadlocks at the Q. "I'm not coming back cheap," he's said. "If you read this article and you think you can get me cheap, there's another thought coming." --
