Mitchel Musso is the latest Disney TV star to give a musical career a shot. The Hannah Montana co-star is touring behind his eponymous album and insists that it’s always been music first and acting second for him. “I was involved with music since I started playing the piano at six,” he says. “I had my first recital at 8 and started playing the guitar at 10, the drums at 12.” Musso says he’s capable of crafting an album by himself. “I could play all of the instruments,” he says. “I’m down with Pro Tools. I can edit. I can do it all.” But Musso, 18, opted not to make his solo album by himself. He has three co-writing credits on his debut, which features Max Martin (Pink, Kelly Clarkson) behind the board. “I love the fact that I can get work with someone like Max,” says Musso. “Why not use the resources I have?” Musso’s album is full of catchy, innocuous power-pop that’s a bit edgier than fellow Disney boys the Jonas Brothers’. Musso will have to switch gears when he heads back to the Disney Studios for a fourth season of Hannah Montana, but after that, Cyrus told Musso that she would like the close friends to head to the studio for a duet. “That would be cool for my next album,” he says. “I think about that next album a lot, but I have to focus on this album and tour. I have to stay focused because I have so much to work on. But I would rather be busy like this than idle.” The all-girl rock band KSM opens at 6:45 p.m. at House of Blues (308 Euclid Ave., 216.523.2583). Tickets: $20 advance, $23 day of show. — Ed Condran
