8/14: Ralphie May at the Improv

Two years ago, comedian Ralphie May became a first-time father. He named his daughter April June May. Two months ago, he had a son and called him August May. “I think they’re great names,” says the proud pop. His wife obviously shares his sense of humor. “She’s all right with it — she’s married to a comic,” says May. “My mom wasn’t crazy about [April’s] name at first. Friends told me that the name sounds like a stripper’s name. I told them strippers are named after cars you can’t afford, like Lexus and Mercedes.” The 37-year-old May likes to joke around. But the portly comic gets serious when he talks about a vasectomy. “My wife told me that I have to get one,” he says. “I’ll be honest — I don’t like the idea. I’m not too excited about seeing someone who is going to cut me in a very private place. But my wife says that my options are to get a vasectomy at the doctor’s office or get one at home.” May performs at 8 and 10:15 tonight, 7, 9:30 and 11:30 p.m. tomorrow, and 7 p.m. Sunday at the Improv (2000 Sycamore St., 216.696.4677). Tickets: $20-$22. — Ed Condran
