9/5: New Horizons, Unusual Assemblages and Renaissance Art

Three artists whose only connection is their teaching gigs at Avon Lake Elementary School are thrown together for New Horizons, Unusual Assemblages and Renaissance Art, which opens today at Pentagon Gallery. The exhibit includes work by watercolorist Richard Skerl, illustrator Sean Crum and sculptor and collage maker Gail Crum. Skerl uses watercolor in traditional subject matter like landscapes and seascapes. Sean Crum’s drawings mix goth and renaissance-fair-type fantasy images. And Gail Crum builds her pieces out of found objects. There’s a reception from 6-9 p.m. The show continues through October 24 at Pentagon Gallery (3102 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland Hts., 216.321.3362). It’s free. — Michael Gill
