Bob Palumbo has been kicking around the local music scene for over three decades, ever since playing with groups like bar-band stalwarts 1 Yere 2 Sune in the ’70s. Along the way, he’s played with a lot of people and made a lot of friends. Now he’s enlisted a bunch of them to help out a fellow musician. Guitarist Louie DeAngelis, who’s played on some of Palumbo’s musical projects, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis about a year ago, and Palumbo’s organized a benefit called the Back From Nowhere tour, happening at the Beachland Ballroom Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
Among the people he’s got on board are keyboardist Rich Spina, frontman for popular local ’80s band Love Affair and sideman for oldies acts like Gary Lewis and the Playboys and Herman’s Hermits; Geezecats guitarist Ed Sarley; former 1 Yere 2 Sune guitarist Rick Montinari, who currently plays with ’60s revival band the ReBeats; Funk N Stuff sax player Jim Roberts; and drummer George Haley of special-events band Raisin' Cain. Palumbo has recently put together a Bad Company tribute band, Runnin’ With the Pack, which will be making its debut at the Beachland.
