9/17: Around the Corner 35th Anniversary

Lakewood watering hole Around the Corner (18616-20 Detroit Ave., 216.521.4413) has held down its spot where the road curves over the bridge into Rocky River for 35 years. So it’s celebrating with a long weekend of specials, starting tonight with food and drink bargains and music by DJ Gus (from 5-9 p.m.) and the modern party rock of one of the area’s hardest-working cover bands, the Breakfast Club (they’ll play the rest of the night). At 10 p.m. Saturday, the club will be giving away a pair of tickets to Sunday’s Browns game against the Denver Broncos and most likely hoping the winners come back the next day to help kick off the tailgate party from 1-4 p.m., when it’s all you can eat or drink for $25. Former Browns player and current assistant director of player development Kevin Mack will socialize with the most likely rowdy crew. Those who didn’t win tickets can stretch out their tailgating and watch the game on the club’s patio at 4:15 p.m. — Anastasia Pantsios
