Earlier today, singer-songwriter Alison Krauss announced the dates of an extensive 50-date tour that begins next month and swings into town in the fall for a show at the Akron Civic Theatre on Sept. 11.
The tour supports her latest effort, Windy City. The album debuted at the top of the Billboard Country Album and Bluegrass Albums charts.
Veteran songwriter Buddy Cannon produced the disc.
“Buddy sang harmonies on everything back [when I was growing up],” Krauss says in a press release announcing the tour. “I don’t do something unless I feel like I’m called to do it. That’s what I felt like, so I honored it. It’s like the same feeling of when you know something is right musically, with a song or a batch of songs —the same feeling, but this was attached to a person instead of a batch of songs.”
A fan club presale begins at 10 a.m. tomorrow, and tickets to the general public go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday.
