The momentum that followed the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas from the youngest of millennials was truly awe-inspiring. Many teens upset with the status quo have felt helpless considering many are barely old enough to drive a car, let alone cast a vote. Teens deserve to have their voices heard regarding the decisions made by politicians that will impact their futures. That includes voting, and for some high schoolers, that right is coming sooner than they might think.

If you are a 17 but will turn 18  on or before November 6, 2018, you can register to vote online to vote in the May 8, 2018 primaries for candidates. Teens that qualify have until April 9, 2018 to register.

All voters must register or update their voter registration no later than 30 days prior to an election. Upcoming voter registration deadlines are as follows:
  • April 9, 2018 for the May 8, 2018 Primary and Special Congressional Primary (12th Congressional District) Election
  • July 9, 2018 for the August 7, 2018 Special and Special Congressional General (12th Congressional District) Election
  • October 9, 2018 for the November 6, 2018 General Election
Keep in mind, if a voter registers or updates their information after the deadline, the change will apply for the next election.
