Originally a duo, Akron’s Red Rose Panic expanded into a five-piece a few years back, recruiting the other band members from their church to round out the group.

Inspired by N.E.R.D. rapper and songwriter Pharrell Williams, the band issued the EP One Night Standard in 2014 and then followed it up in 2016 with the single “Party Time, Excellent.”

The group has just finished cutting Time Attack, a new album that it recorded at Central 8 Studios in Akron. It arrives on Thursday, May 3, and the band plays a release party at 9 that same night at Annabell’s Bar & Lounge in Akron. The groovy, guitar-driven "Been There" shows how capably the band embraces hip-hop, funk and pop.

“It's our first album that the entire band has contributed to, so it will have more of a 'live' and 'powerful' sound than our debut that came out four years ago,” says singer Luminari.

The Katy, SANKURO, Mister Moon, HR3: Beats Drums & Music and LuvAbstract share the bill at Annabell's, and admission is free.
