3/21: Spooky Train Ride at CVNP

Over the next few months, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park will offer some of the most beautiful scenery you can find in the area. The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad — which makes passenger trips through the park from Independence on the north and to Akron on the south — has already started running this season. To add some interest to a trip through still-barren countryside, the railroad is offering a “spooky” train ride today. Volunteers and staff will regale riders with Ohio ghost stories and tales of sunken ships and train wrecks. (Hope passengers aren’t jumping out the windows after that last one.) The ride takes place in broad daylight, so it’s not too scary for the kids. Trains leave the Akron station (27 Ridge St., Howard St.) at 11:35 a.m. and the Independence station (7900 Old Rockside Rd.) at 1:30 p.m. The roundtrip lasts three hours. Tickets are $10.
