I'm not entirely sure why, but BW3's commercials have been absolutely infuriating lately. You know the ones, the game is tied or some bullshit and all the fans at the bar/restaurant/wing emporium voice their desire for the game to never end. Ever.
Here's the latest one, which I'm sure you've seen by now:
Now, I dig BW3. It's all you really want in a sports bar. There's a million different variations of wing sauce, about 50 beers on tap, and dozens upon dozens of gigantic HD TVs. It's a glutton's paradise where you can shovel metric tons of calories down your craw, guzzle the finest and cheapest domestic brews, and try to watch 17 games all at once.
That is what BW3 has to sell, and hell, it really shouldn't take much to sell it. We have every game that's on TV right now on, come get fat and drunk and watch. That's about it. Sold. Done.
But no, some marketing firm had to go the extra step and try to be creative, and that endeavor sadly shows approximately zero knowledge of what real fans are like.
Take the OT commercial from above. Boston is playing New York. The game is tied. Boston is on its way for an easy basket to win the game. Then, suddenly, a guy in a Boston jersey instructs the bartender to send the game to overtime. And why does this mythical sports fan want his team to not win immediately? Because he wants to see more game. That man, my friends at BW3, does not exist. There's me, Mr. Holy Shit There's Another Random NBA Game On And I Haven't Tried The Mango Habanero Wings Today Yet, but there's no Mr. Make My Team Not Win Right Now. Idiotic and infuriating.
Rant over.
