4/14: Skarhead at Now That's Class

Skarhead singer Lord Ezec hates modern hardcore, but he has a blast hating it. Skarhead’s new album, Drugs, Music & Sex, opens with “Fuck the Scene,” a full-metal middle-finger in which Ezec promises to put the boots to anyone who shops at Hot Topic. And that’s just the start of it. Ezec — also known as Danny Diablo of Crown of Thornz/Icepick — and a crew of scarred, tattooed lifers prove they can still hang with the young lions by playing some of the catchiest N.Y.C. hardcore in years. The album includes guest appearances by members of Hatebreed, Agnostic Front, Madball and Gorilla Biscuits, who contribute to the stories of over-the-top, murderous, wasted joyrides, or in the band’s words, “the most ignorant hardcore party anthems a band can create.” Skarhead play Now That’s Class (11213 Detroit Ave., 216.221.8576), with H8 Inc., Crossface, Search Bloc and Boss opening at 9 p.m. Tickets: $10 advance, $12 day of show. — D.X.
