Clevelanders can soon have Target goods sent directly to their homes within a matter of hours, thanks to a partnership with delivery company Shipt. Starting June 21, Target launches the new same-day online delivery system in the Cleveland area, ensuring that some of its customers may never have to step foot in a store again.

Here's how it works: After signing up with the free Shipt app or website, shoppers can choose pretty much any grocery and household item possible, with the exception of alcohol, prescriptions, and tobacco (although Shipt has confirmed it's working on potential alcohol deliveries for the future). Once items are selected and paid for, they're dispatched directly to a customer's door.

A one-hour delivery window can be chosen up to when a store closes. All purchases over $35 include free delivery, otherwise expect a $7 delivery fee. A Target/Shipt membership costs $99, but those signing up before June 21 only have to pay $49 and receive a free $15 Target gift card.

The project expands statewide throughout the month, heading into Columbus and Cincinnati June 14 and Akron June 19. The company is also projected to offer over 300 jobs for independent contractors. The service will be available to Cleveland zip codes 44001-44280 June 21.

Target is not the first company to launch such a service in Cleveland. Other grocery stores, including Giant Eagle, Acme, Heinen's, Presto Fresh, and even Amazon have also added these uber-convenient same-day delivery services to its roster.
