- For residents in Gates Mills, an oil spill usually means a few drops of gas on their Lexus.
Gates Mills is a far cry from the Gulf Shore, but residents to the east of Cleveland are dealing with an oil spill of their own. And no, not a few drops of unleaded on their shiny luxury automobiles. Though that is tragedy of epic and annoying proportions, too.
A well in the hoity-toity suburb spilled 1,000 gallons into nearby streams and sewers when a part failed this weekend. While the 1,000 gallons is a tiny drop in the man-made eco-calamity bucket compared to the approximately 17 kajillion barrels (estimated, naturally) that have flowed into the Gulf of Mexico, expect much hand wringing from the pro-Republican denizens in Gates Mills who likely thought, "Drill baby, drill" should be a slogan on national currency just a few days ago.
No word yet on if they'll ask their nannies or gardeners to assist in the cleanup.
Details after the jump.
