From Buckeye to Tough Guy: Five Ohio Cities Make 50 Manliest List

Ohio smash!

A lot of questions get raised about the status of our fine state. But one statistic is undeniable: Ohio is tough as nails, and finally someone made it official.

Five Ohio cities made it in the top 50 in a recent "America's Manliest Cities" study conducted by Bert Sperling, the mind behind a less-forgiving list of "Best Places to Live." The list is based on an interesting set of criteria, which includes number of steakhouses, home improvement stores, pickup trucks and motorcycles per capita.

Though Charlotte managed to top the list, Columbus came in at second. Cleveland was fifteenth, Cincinnati twentieth, Toledo twenty-sixth and Dayton thirty-fourth.

And just for the record, Pittsburgh came in at a lowly thirty-seventh, and California cities are apparently the cellar dwellers on the manliness scale, five of which occupied the bottom ten.
