Drink of the Week

Hot Whiskey at Prosperity Social Club

February cold hangs heavy on a guy or gal, and few are the drink options that can hike up your BAC and body temperature in one heady gulp. When spiking the office coffee pot gets old, snowshoe over to Tremont's Prosperity Social Club. The bar — well known for its cozy, '70s-basement decor, board games, and those cheap, obscure beers your dad drank in college — serves a mean Hot Whiskey ($7). The contents are easy enough: hot water, Jameson, honey, and lemon spiked with a hint of clove. But ambiance is as much a part of the cure as the drink here: Hunkered down barside some minutes after Prosperity opens its doors at 4 p.m., the temperature outside dropping fast and the roads clogged with ice-timid traffic, a hit from this steaming cup makes the season all the more bearable.
