CD Review: Reverse the Curse

Hither and Yon (Paper + Plastick)

It's taken this Hiram band more than 10 years to release its first album. Then again, they formed when the three members were still in the sixth grade. Since then, Reverse the Curse has tried on everything from sugary pop-punk to gruff Hot Water Music worship. They've settled on accomplished post-hardcore that would sound at home as the soundtrack to an action movie. Among the best songs on Hither and Yon, "Kilroy Was Here" moves from sparse introspection and clipped rhythms to a flood of swirling guitars and barked exclamations. The album's seamless dynamic shifts and rhythmic diversity showcase the band's boundless potential. — Matt Whelihan
